

The Essex Diving Club welcomes both experienced divers from any affiliation as well as anyone interested in learning.
The Objects of the club are
To Promote and encourage people to participate in the sport of Scuba Diving
To provide training & facilities for members of the club and equipment for use by those persons who are undertaking training courses.
To promote social intercourse amongst those interested in diving
To Educate, train and encourage safe diving practices through lectures and courses
To provide other facilities that may be considered necessary for or beneficial to a Diving Club and its Members.

Our Training School is & PADI & RYA Training Centre and courses are run by PADI Instructors in a safe and structured manner. Theory lessons are conducted in a classroom environment, followed by pool sessions in our Special Indoor Deep pool. Open water lessons are conducted at both inland lakes, and coastal locations. Membership includes both use of club-owned scuba kit during training and access to our own 6 meter deep indoor swimming pool.

The club meets every 2nd & 4th Wednesday evening at the clubs facilities, The Underwater Studio Archers Fields Basildon Essex. The 2nd Wednesday of the month is a pool session where training takes place and members can practice their skills or test out their equipment
The 4th Wednesday of the month is a theory session which will take the format of a training lecture or talk by a guest speaker.
At weekends their will be organised dives, more pool sessions available in the training tank. Members may use the pool at other time subject to availability and Safety Rules.

The membership fee covers pool & theory sessions, including guest speakers
Equipment use whilst training (subject to availability) use of the social club
Club insurance, administration costs. Dive trips & Training courses are not included in the membership fees.
FULL MEMBER
For those over the age of 18 years who are a qualified diver to the minimum standard of Open Water/ Ocean diver or equivalent by a recognised training agency.
Cost £ 60.00
INTERMEDIATE MEMBER
For those over the age of 18 years of age who are not a qualified diver but are undertaking training or wishing to undertake training to the minimum standard of Open water / Ocean diver or equivalent . Membership will be automatically upgraded on successful completion of obtaining a qualification Open water / Ocean diver or equivalent from a recognized training agency.

STUDENT MEMBER
For those who are between the ages of 12 & 18 years of age and are either a qualified diver to the minimum standard of Open Water/ Ocean diver or equivalent by a recognised training agency or under going training to this standard.
Cost £30.00
NON- DIVING & JUNIOR MEMBERS
This category of membership is for those who are either under the age of 12 years of age or those over the age of 12 that are not wishing or not able to dive but would like to belong to the club to support their partners or family.

Facilities:
The Club has an indoor heated swimming pool and classrooms available for theory lessons.
Lectures are typically held in small groups so that interaction between the instructor and student is maintained.
In order to make the lectures interesting and engaging, a variety of handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and hands-on activities are used.
The classroom lectures are followed up with session in the pool. First the divers prepare their kit, initially under supervision of an instructor.
Dry Practical Lessons, such as compass work, CPR, dive planning and chart reading are held in suitable locations for that particular lesson.
Open Water lessons take place at a choice of inland dive sites, and coastal waters.
The club also holds special lecture evenings with guest speakers form the world of diving.
The club also has its own active social club and licenced bar

The Club also organizes the Essex Diving Festival and annual Event held at the clubs premises, with talks and demonstrations about the different aspects of scuba diving
